Cost Auditor
Job Summary The Cost Auditor is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the hotel’s food, beverage and operating costs to ensure accurate recording, inventory controls and compliance with the hotel’s standard operating procedures. Key Responsibilities · Monitor daily food and beverage costs, waste, spoilage, portion control, complimentary items, and investigate significant variances. This includes food consumption and identifying unusual usage or losses. · Analyze actual costs against budgets, forecasts and establish cost percentages. · Review purchase orders, receiving reports and supplier invoices for accuracy, ensuring that any discrepancies are investigated. · Monitor purchasing prices and identify any unusual price increases. · Conduct and/or coordinate monthly physical inventories of food, beverage and operating supplies. Reconcile physical inventory against system records and investigate any variances or discrepancies. · Monitor inventory levels and identify slow-moving or excessive stock. Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO practices and all purchasing and receiving procedures and practices are followed. · Reconcile F&B sales against POS reports and accounting records. Review voids, discounts, complimentary items and adjustments. · Prepare financial reports as directed for month-end closing, daily/weekly/monthly cost-control reporting. · Maintain accurate records or documentation of relevant processes for auditing. · Assist the Finance Controller with budgeting and forecasting when needed. · Ensure full compliance with hotel’s purchasing, receiving, inventory and cost-control policies and identify weakness with recommended corrective actions. · Maintain a high level of service and hospitality standards. · Ensure security and confidentiality of all guests, client and hotel information. · Ensure compliance with all Aimbridge policies, brand standards and local operating procedures (SOPs and LSOPs). · Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate manager. Requirements · Diploma or Degree in accounting (CAT/ACCA) or equivalent. · 2-4 years’ experience in accounting, Purchasing, or similar field (hospitality experience would be an asset). · Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, accounting /purchasing/inventory software. · Knowledge in using Opera PMS, Oracle, Point of Sale. · Knowledge of stock counts, inventory controls, hotel products and supplies, cost accounting, purchasing and receiving procedures. · Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation practices. · Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical skills. · Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization and communication skills. · Demonstrated sense of accountability, urgency, and professionalism. · Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. · High level of integrity and accuracy. · Ability to stand for extended periods and handle/move goods no more than 50lbs without assistance.
